The discoveries of the late twentieth century, the cell and molecular biology, open broad prospects in the development of new biotechnologies that will allow the treatment of a number of pathologies currently difficult to cure.

General concepts:

Regenerative medicine – is a process of creating a viable tissue, functional, and restore or replace tissue or organ function.

Tissue engineering is an interdisciplinary field that applies the principles of engineering and life sciences toward the development of biological substitutes in vitro that restore, maintain, or improve tissue function or a whole organ

Cell therapy is the transplantation of human or animal cells for replacement or repair damaged tissues or cells in order to treat diseases. Cells used in cell therapy are stem cells: hematopoietic or mesenchymal stem cells, embryonic stem cells, fetal and adult stem cells.

Gene therapy – is the insertion of genes into an individual cell or tissue biological purpose of treatment of disease.

 The benefit is the:

  • able to identify the mechanisms through stem cell development body
  • possibility to get new treatment methods using cell therapy
  • possibility of creating organs through tissue engineering purposes, or traumatized organ replacement broken
